Jon Jones defeated Daniel Cormier in their rematch at UFC 214 with a third-round knock out using a head kick. Cormier ended up concussed because of the incident. Jones destroyed his rival at UFC 282 two and a half year ago, but his title was taken away twice.
This morning he sent a strong message across the sport, saying“It’s such a beautiful moment. I did a lot of right things to get back in this position. Anybody at home who let yourself down, you let your family down, you let your parents down or your co-workers down, you let yourself down, it’s never over. As long as you never quit, it’s never over. I’m back here.”
Jones then called out Brock Lesnar, who responded with “careful what you wish for.”
Cormier said after the fight, “I thought the fight was going well, I don’t even know what happened.
“They said I got kicked in the head. Man, that was so disappointing. I guess if you win both fights, there is no rivalry.”
Jones was a good sport and paid tribute to his opponent saying, “I’m going to do my best to be the champion that you guys deserve to have. Daniel Cormier has been one of the biggest sources of motivation I’ve had in the last two-three years and I thank him for that and for pushing me to a higher level.”
