According to one witness it was “nonstop gunfire” and sent bystanders outside the resort on the Vegas strip running for cover. Pedestrians also cared for the wounded and at least one described someone dying in their arms.

Police said an off duty Police officer attending the concert is among the dead.

One video showed the horror in the wake of the shooting as victims laid on stretchers or on the grounds while responders and bystanders surrounded them. They made makeshift stretches out of police barricades, plugged wounds with their hands and used their clothing to stop the bleeding.

Videos by onlookers thought it was fireworks. The final night of the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival was taking place across the street from Manadaly Bay. Jason Aldean was the night’s headliner; other performers included country stars Jake Owen, Big & Rich, Luke Combs and Dylan Scott.

The Las Vegas shooter was Stephen Paddock, 64 years old, from Mesquite, Nevada. He had no prior contact with Mesquite police.
